Welcome to SAIS
The Student Assessment of Instruction System (SAIS), a service
of the University of Tennessee’s Office
of Institutional Research and Assessment, provides
for student evaluation of teaching at the University. Formerly
known as the Campus Teaching Evaluation Program, or CTEP, SAIS
operates by a mandate of the Faculty Senate. The evaluation instruments
are based upon those originally developed by the University of
Washington.
While SAIS developed as an in-class, scan form procedure, in recent
years the option to have students complete the forms on-line has
been made available to instructors as well. All SAIS responses
both on paper or on line are subject to the Tennessee Open Records
Law. This applies to both structured and open-ended responses.
Results of the assessment are provided to the instructors as well
as published in the Student Government Association’s Tennessee
101.
